ASAD focuses in international cooperation and education for development and social change


International cooperation for development

ASAD’s activities on the ground support community empowerment processes to help the communities with which we collaborate to achieve development. In order to meet that goal, ASAD identifies and promotes projects jointly with local organisations in partner countries. ASAD implements projects focused on human rights protection, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the projects by developing and strengthening necessary human capacities. ASAD currently cooperates with several organisations in Guatemala, Cabo Verde, Guinea Bissau, Cambodia, Myanmar and Dominican Republic.

Education for development

ASAD believes that education is the key to raise awareness on inequality and its causes. Education is the seed to though shifting. An educated and well-informed society with a sound knowledge on development issues is committed to solidarity and social action to build a fairer global order.

Communication for development: To support and promote the organisation and participation of civil society in the exercise of the right to communication and civil liberties

Economic justice: To help communities, especially the most vulnerable ones, to achieve a fair and sustainable economic development.

Basic social services: To promote the right to basic social services on an equitable basis

Culture and development: To strengthen the development of the cultural industry sector, as main sphere of expression and protection of cultural diversity, people's identity and social cohesion

The human right to communication is a tool for participation and social change. The right to communication brings culture into sharper focus and ensures people’s freedom to communicate their own messages. Read more

Gender equality


Women’s equal participation and access to resources is one of ASAD’s priorities to achieve a fairer society. ASAD also aims to raise awareness of care economy, which produces physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Read more

Institutional empowerment


Since empowerment is essential for development, ASAD helps individuals to improve their self-management skills through workshops and training in order to lay the foundations for their own future. Read more

Environmental sustainability


Environmental sustainability of human activities and development models is currently a hot issue. Unsustainable exploitation of nature resources, climate change and food crisis require innovative initiatives to reduce environmental impact.

How we work?

In the area of international cooperation ASAD members collaborate with reliable counterparts of the partner countries to jointly identify needs and design development international cooperation projects, which are afterward submitted to different calls for proposal in order to obtain local, regional, national or international funding.

With such grants and private funds from members and donors, ASAD implements, follows and evaluate the results of projects in close collaboration with the technical staff of its local counterparts.

Funded in the same way, Education for development programs are designed and implemented by ASAD staff and volunteers both in Spain and in developing countries, promoting development research and training, raising awareness and inspiring social mobilization.

With regard to social action, ASAD collaborates with numerous local organisations of Granada committed to protect the most vulnerable. ASAD members work as volunteers in these organizations, strengthening local structures and promoting social participation and action.
